Currently, the Indian power sector is undergoing a notable change that has revamped the industry outlook. With sustained economic growth, there is a continuous demand for electricity in India. The Indian government’s focus on attaining ‘Power for all’ has catalysed capacity addition in the country. Meanwhile, there has been rising competition in both the market and supply areas (fuel, finances, logistics and manpower). With a production of 1,278.91 TWh in 2015, India climbed to the top five ladders of the electricity market by becoming the third-largest producer and fourth-largest consumer of electricity in the global arena.
